About Our Shelter

Peace River Regional Women's Shelter has 24 beds to accommodate women and children in crisis, fleeing abuse or homeless. The Shelter is wheelchair accessible to ensure all people can access the facility and supports.
Our Shelter offers many in house supports such as finding housing, financial aid, basic necessities, childcare, supports and referrals to assist each clients individual needs.
Recently our Shelter has been gifted a home that has been transformed into Second Stage Housing which will provide women and families with a monitored, safe home to call their own for up to 2 years after leaving the Emergency Shelter. Second Stage offers empowerment, supports and assistance transitioning to independent living.
Our Shelter offers outside programming through Adult Outreach and Empowering Kids and Youth. These programs offer one-on-one assistance and support as well as community partnerships and events throughout the year.

Peace River Regional Women's Shelter Society acknowledges that we are located on Metis Region 6 and Treaty 8 territory, the ancestral and present-day home to many diverse First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people. We are grateful to work, live and learn on the traditional territory of the Dene, Beaver and Cree, who are the original caretakers of this land.
We acknowledge the history of this land and we are thankful for the opportunity to walk together in friendship, where we will encourage and promote positive change for present and future generations.
